{"id":536,"date":"2021-08-08T07:53:23","date_gmt":"2021-08-08T07:53:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eng.sjp.ac.lk\/mechanicaleng\/?p=536"},"modified":"2021-08-31T05:56:51","modified_gmt":"2021-08-31T05:56:51","slug":"mech-students-shine-at-imeche-speech-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/eng.sjp.ac.lk\/mechanicaleng\/news\/mech-students-shine-at-imeche-speech-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Mech students shine at IMechE speech competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dileesha Jayathilaka, a final year student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, has won the semi-final of the national level speech competition \u201cSpeak out for Engineers\u201d, organised by IMechE.<\/p>\n<p>The competition, organised by the Young Members of the institution has been running for almost 60 years, focused on improving the communication skills of young engineers. It is a truly international competition where national level and subsequently regional level winners will have the opportunity to compete on a global stage.<\/p>\n<p>Students of IMechE student chapters of all the engineering faculties in Sri Lanka are participating in the Sri Lankan national competition. The competition consists of four semi-finals, with two participants from each university.
