The engineering faculty medical center caters to the university community including the students, staff
and their families free of charge as the first contact and continuing care. The coordinated for secondary
care with Colombo south teaching hospital.

Nurse going to be attached recently. We provide patient facilities for students and staff during the day
time (8.30 am – 4.30 pm). Doctor is available on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
We have been provided the facilities by main medical center of University of Sri Jayewardenepura such as 

  • Preventive health care (Dengue control program) 
  • Ambulance facilities 
  • Dental facilities
  • Counseling facilities

Covid – 19 affects different people in different ways. Most infected people will develop mild to moderate illness and recover without hospitalization.

Most common Symptoms

Fever, cough, tiredness, loss of taste and smell.

Less common symptoms

Sore throat, Headache, Aches and pains, Diarrhea, Rash of skin or discoloration of figures or tows, Red or irritation of eyes.

Incubation period

When someone is infected with the virus average 5 – 6 days will take to show symptoms. However it can take up to 14 days.
Lungs are the most affected organs by the covid – 19.

Complications may includes

Pneumonia, Acute respiratory distress syndrome, Multiple organ frailer, Septic shock, Death

Does Covid - 19 affect internal organs?

In critical ill patients multiple organs are affected such as lungs, heart, brain, kidneys and liver.

To Prevent Covid - 19

  1. Covering the nose and mouth with mask and use flexed elbow or disposable tissue when coughing and sneezing.
  2. Frequently cleaning of hands using alcohol based hand rub or soap and water.
  3. Maintaining the at least 1 meter distance from each other. 
  4. Vaccination.
  5. Avoid closed contact with anyone who has fever and cough.
