The Department of Computer Engineering at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) has the pleasure of announcing the appointment of Dr. Udaya Wijenayake as its newly appointed head. Officially he has assumed his duty on 05th of June, 2023 with the gathering of department staff, other departments and faculty office members.
Dr. Udaya Wijenayake’s academic journey began at the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC), Sri Lanka, where he earned his B.Sc. (Honours) in Computer Science. Then he received his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Kyungpook National University (KNU), South Korea in 2013 and followed by a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the same university in 2018.
Dr. Wijenayake is well-positioned to lead the department in its pursuit of excellence in education, research, and innovation. He is a respected academic with a strong background in research. Having served as a Senior Lecturer in the department since 2017, he is well-acquainted with its academic programs and has contributed significantly to its growth. His leadership, combined with his extensive research background, is expected to inspire department and students alike, fostering a culture of innovation and driving the department’s continued growth and success.
