About the Department

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering offers degree programs that span across Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. The department offers an undergraduate study program in Electrical and Electronic Engineering leading to the award of the degree of “Bachelor of the Science of Engineering Honours”. Courses are designed and constantly improved with the intention that students shall gain knowledge and competence, starting from fundamentals of circuits, electronic signals and signal processing through digital electronics, system-on-chips, power generation, power electronics and image processing to the design of large-scale power, telecommunication, robotics and automation systems and biomedical applications. The department offers two minors in Telecommunication Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. The minor in Telecommunication Engineering provides the students with a comprehensive understanding of the design and implementation of telecommunication systems. The students who follow the Biomedical Engineering minor shall acquire state of the art knowledge in applying engineering practices to medicine and healthcare.  The department also offers postgraduate research degree programs.

The department is equipped with nine laboratories, namely, Analogue Electronics, Digital Electronics, Power Systems, Machines and Drives, Telecommunication, Biomedical, Computer, Research and Development, Project and Electronic Workshop.

The department allows students to use their academic knowledge and skills in practice through industry collaborations and projects. Presently the department has established several MoUs with national and international academic and industrial partners.
