A 5G innovation center will be established at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EE) following the agreements signed between Dialog Axiata PLC and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. This 5G innovation center will be under the purview of University Grants Commission (UGC) aiming to create and incubate interest-driven learning, innovation and entrepreneurship for generations to come. Dr. Uditha Wijewardhana from the department of EE is designated as the director of this 5G innovation center. This innovation center will facilitate students to gain first-hand experience in research and development activities connected to 5G technology platforms, including inter alia autonomous vehicles, robotics, artificial intelligence, and other practical applications that drive domestic innovation.
