Dr. Nishan Dharmaweera was appointed as the new dean of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, with effect from 20th November 2023.
He has been appointed after he served as the Acting Dean of the faculty, after the term of Dr. Thilaksiri Bandara.
He has been a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering since 2016, and was appoined as the Head of the Department in 2022. Dr. Dharmaweera obtained his Bachelors Degree in Engineering in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering with a First Class Honours from Monash University, Australia. He continued his postgraduate studies at the same university, and attained his PhD in the field of Telecommunications Engineering. He also worked at the Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden as a Postdoctoral Researcher.
Ceremonial Induction of the New Dean of the Faculty of Engineering was held on 21st November 2023 with the participation of Senior Prof. Pathmalal M. Manage, Vice-chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
Dr. Nishan assumed duties following a Parith Chanting by the Honorable Mahasangha, Heads of departments, academic, non-academic and administrative staff members participated in the induction ceremony.
