Department of Civil Engineering completes its first consultancy project

The construction of the proposed extension to anatomy building for the department of pathology of Faculty of Medical Sciences commenced on 12th March 2021 by laying the foundation stone by Snr. Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, Vice-chancellor, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Snr. Prof. Aloka Pathirana, Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Snr. Prof. Surangi G. Yasawardene, Former Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences and Dr. KMC Konthesingha, Dean Faculty of Engineering. As the first department consultancy work, overall design coordination and structural consultancy were done by a team of staff members of the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.    The duration of the project is 18 months and the estimated construction cost of LKR 157 million is funded by World Bank under AHEAD project. The four-story building is to contain student laboratory spaces mainly for the Departments of Microbiology, Pathology, and Parasitology including student and staff areas.
