Department of Civil Engineering offers a student life that can be personalized to your personal interests. Being a part of the civil engineering department students will find numerous ways to develop themselves while enjoying the undergraduate life with peers.

Clubs and societies

Civil Engineering Society (CES) is the main society within the Department of Civil Engineering that consists of the academic staff and undergraduate and postgraduate students. The society has been established with broader aims of promoting the civil engineering profession among students, enhancing the networking opportunities among the members and with the wider civil engineering community, promote the professional development of students and improving the student’s life in the department. Apart CES represent the department in inter-university, national and international activities. Related with TECHNO exhibition – 2019 intra university level spaghetti bridge competition was organized by CES. In addition, the society organizes guest lectures by inviting key personnel from the industry and research organizations. These included lectures such as Lecture on Ancient Stupas by (Prof.) Munidasa P Ranaweera, and the lecture on Remote Sensing, GIS and Environmental Application by Prof.Nurul Hazrina Idris.
