The Department holds its inaugural Department Industrial Consultative Committee Meeting

The inaugural meeting of the Department Industrial Consultative Committee (DICC) of the Department of Civil Engineering, USJ was held on 22^nd of January 2021. The event was held as a combination of physical and online meeting via zoom due to the prevailing pandemic situation in the country.

The Department of Civil Engineering is delivering the Civil Engineering degree program intending to achieve the Accreditation status under Washington Accord through The Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL). For this purpose, the department has taken several measures including the establishment of DICC, with the objective of creating close collaboration and exchange of ideas to improve the process of programme development and delivery. The members of the DICC at the Department of Civil Engineering are comprised of Academic members and members from the Civil Engineering Industry in Sri Lanka representing the key stakeholders of the Industry.

More than 20 participants representing both academia as well as the industry joined the inaugural DICC meeting to share their valuable insights, particularly on curriculum, industrial training, and other key activities at the department.
