Dr. Nilan Weerakoon, a senior lecturer in Civil Engineering, obtained his first degree in Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, in 2012 with a first class honours. Subsequently, he moved to the Hokkaido University, Japan on a full Monbukagakusho Scholarship awarded by the Japanese Government for a Master and Doctoral Degrees. He earned his MEng and PhD degrees specialized in Geotechnical Engineering in 2015, and 2018, respectively. His research interests include Solidification of soft soils mixed with different binders, Rheological properties of high water content soils, Engineering behavior of peat, Ground improvement technique, Slope stability, Long-term consolidation on structuresEngineering properties between ancient construction materials.
