Dr. Sameera Samarasekara is an academic at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, with a comprehensive understanding of engineering. His expertise lies in conducting field experiments and utilizing numerical simulations to analyze climate change and natural hazards. He holds a Bachelor’s degree with first-class honours in Civil Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, followed by a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master’s of Sustainability Science, as well as a PhD in Coastal Engineering from the University of Tokyo. His research focuses on coastal erosion, seawater quality, seagrass, salinity intrusion, integrated water resources management, coastal hazards, and ocean energy. Currently, he serves as the president of SLAAS-Section C.
